Casablanca in one day: city tour or on your own?
Updated October 19, 2026 · 5 min read
For one day, I would book the city tour with the Hassan II Mosque entry ticket and spend the afternoon on your own. It costs €36 per person, takes 4.5 hours in a small group, and is the most reviewed city tour in Casablanca: 4.7 out of 5 from 1,551 reviews. The tour covers what is hard to organise alone, the mosque visit with its fixed guided slots, and leaves the rest of the day free.

A day on your own
Casablanca is a city to move through, not one with a single walkable centre, and the mosque stands on the waterfront. A workable order:
Morning, the mosque. Entry for non-Muslims is by guided visit only. The foundation that runs it currently lists the first slot at 8:00 am, with the last in the morning at 11:00 am and another at 2:00 pm (one fewer on Fridays), and a foreign adult ticket at 140 MAD, roughly €13. Cover shoulders, chest and knees; our article on the Premium Tour has the rules in full.
Midday, the old city. Mohammed V Square and the medina are the places to start. The Sacré-Cœur cathedral, begun in 1930, is no longer a church; it serves as a venue for cultural events, so check what is on before making a detour for it. The Habous quarter, the “new medina”, was built in the 1930s and is a calmer place for crafts and lunch.
Afternoon, the sea. Tram line T2 reaches the beach area of Aïn Diab, but the Corniche itself needs a short walk or a taxi on top. Rick’s Café, opened in 2004, is a recreation: the film was shot in Hollywood studios, so go for the setting, not for history.
Getting around: the tram takes a few dirhams a ride, and the small red taxis in town run on a meter, so ask for it. Prices change; confirm on the day.
Four tours that fill the day
| Offer | Duration | From | Rating | What it says it covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| City tour with Hassan II Mosque entry ticket | 4.5 hours | €36 | 4.7 (1,551 reviews) | the highlights, Rick’s Café, colonial-era streets, air-conditioned transport, small group |
| Full-day city tour with round-trip hotel transfer | 5 – 5.5 hours | €18.83 | 4.7 (417 reviews) | Hassan II Mosque, old medina markets, Corniche, colonial district, local flavours |
| Historical tour with hotel pickup and drop-off | 5 hours | €17.98 | 4.7 (491 reviews) | souks, mosques, local food |
| Guided city tour | 4 hours | €59 | 4.4 (151 reviews) | Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square |
The two offers from about €18 are the cheapest way to cover a lot of ground, with hotel transport included. What their descriptions do not say is whether you go inside the mosque, and at roughly €13 for the ticket alone, little of the price is left over for anything else. Open the booking page and look for the ticket before assuming it is part of the deal. The most expensive of the four, at €59, is not the most reviewed or best rated, so it needs a reason, such as its group size, which the booking page will tell you.
Which one
If you want to be inside the mosque and want one booking that includes the ticket, take the €36 tour. If you mainly want an orientation and are fine with seeing the mosque from outside, one of the two hotel-pickup tours is worth a look, once you have confirmed what is included. If you would rather walk through the old city at your own pace, skip the tours and use the day plan above.
When none of this is worth it
If you are on a layover, a city tour with an airport transfer is a separate product: the layover sightseeing tour takes 6 to 8 hours and starts at €99, so it only suits a long connection. All city tours are on our Casablanca city tours page. And on a Friday, check the mosque slots first, because there is one fewer.
